Guardians of the students of Mirpur Girls' Ideal Laboratory Institute submitted a memorandum to its principal yesterday to press for their 19-point demand.

In the memorandum, they called on the institute authority not to raise student fees, to build a waiting room for guardians, to improve quality of education, not to construct any building on the playground, to set up a canteen and to deploy security guards on the institute premises.

Talking to The Daily Star, Sayeda Tareq Dipti, a guardian, said, "We have been trying to realise our demands for quality education and healthy academic environment for the last four years, but the governing body takes no heed."

When contacted, Principal Kamrunnahar said she has received a memorandum from the guardians.

Kamrunnahar, also the member-secretary of the governing body, said, "I will invite all the guardians within a few days to discuss the issue. If the governing body thinks that the demands are logical, it will take steps to meet the demands."
