Husband stab housewife to death for dowry

The victim was identified as Sadeka Yeasmin, 24, wife of Jamaludin of Pariab village in Babishabo Union.

Police and locals said Jamaluddin and some of her relatives stabbed Sadeka with machete and later hanged her from the ceiling of her house with a scarf on Saturday evening and told locals that she committed suicide. They also beat Sadeka mercilessly, the locals alleged.

Police said they could not arrest Jamaluddin and his family members as they fled after killing Sadeka.

Sadeka's relatives alleged that Jamaluddin and his family members had been torturing Sadeka for dowry since they got married three years back.

An uncle of Sadeka filed a murder case against Jamaluddin and some of his family members with the concerned police station in this connection.
