IHT publication launched in city

Readers in Bangladesh will now get the IHT issues on the very day of its publications.

With a circulation of 25 millions in 180 countries across the globe, the daily has full-fledged news operations in New York, Paris and Hong Kong.

Dhaka became the 14th printing site of the newspaper in Asia.

The launching ceremony of the printing site was held at Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre last night, with Information Minister M Shamsul Islam as the chief guest.

Randy Weddle, managing director of Asia Pacific IHT, AKM Delwar Hussain, managing editor of IHT Bangladesh Ltd., and Barrister Mainul Hosein, president of Bangladesh Sangbadpatra Parishad, also spoke at the ceremony.

Syed Raziur Rahman Chowdhury, chairman of IHT Bangladesh Ltd., gave vote of thanks.

Initially, a total of 700 copies will be printed in Dhaka every day, the local distributing authority said. Each copy is priced at Tk 130.

The newspaper started its printing from yesterday and will be available for subscribers in Dhaka and other major cities in the country.
