Int'l Film Festival begins in Ctg tomorrow

Chittagong Film Centre organised the eight-day festival in association with Bangladesh Federation of Film Societies at Muslim Institute and Studio Theatre auditoriums.

Sangeetacharya Jagadananda Barua is expected to inaugurate the festival at Muslim Institute auditorium at 5:00pm where Bappaditya Bandopadhyay, also the director of Bangla film Kantatar, will be present as special guest, said the organisers at a press conference at Chittagong Press Club yesterday.

The inaugural ceremony will be followed by screening of Kantatar, they said.

A total of 64 films of 50 countries will be screened during the festival. Foreign delegates including several renowned filmmakers and film personalities are expected to attend the event.

To celebrate the 50 years of Bengali films eight award-winning Bengali films will be screened in the festival. The films included Ora Agaro Jon, Titas Ekti Nadir Nam, Simana Periye, Agami, Chaka, Chitra Nadir Parey, Kittan Khola and Matir Moyna.

Screening of films at Muslim Institute hall will begin at 10:30am, 1:30pm, 4:30pm and 7:30 pm while films will be shown at Studio Theater Auditorium at 11:00am, 2:00pm, 5:00pm and 7:30pm.

The price of ticket is fixed at TK 30. The festival programme also includes open forum seminar, publication of souvenirs and selection of best film for viewers award through viewers votes.

Publicity Sub Committee Convener Debashish Roy read out the written statement at the press conference where Festival Committee Chairman Bidhan Barua, Treasurer Mizanur Rahman, Gias Ahmed and Sajjad Hossain Upal were present among others.
