Int'l Ozone Day today

The theme of this year is "Act Ozone FriendlyStay Sun Safe".

President Iajuddin Ahmed and Prime Minister Khaleda Zia gave separate messages on the occasion.

In his message, the President expressed his hope that we would succeed in tackling the environmental problems of the universe through the combined efforts of all.

Ozone layer saves us from the injurious ray of the sun. All the countries in the world are vocal now to keep the ozone layer intact, Iajuddin said.

The President appreciated that under the Montreal Protocol adopted in 1987 the developed nations have stopped producing products which contribute to decaying the ozone layer.

In her message, Khaleda Zia expressed her hope that the programmes of the Ozone Day would help mould public opinion along with the reduction of use of ozone layer decaying goods and encourage the use of alternative products.
