Intra-party clashes foil AL procession in Chandpur
Intra-party clashes yesterday afternoon foiled a procession of Awami League (AL) in favour of today's daylong AL hartal in Chandpur town leaving at least 15 people injured.
Witnesses said when supporters of former district AL President Advocate Fazlul Hoque Sarker took out a pro-hartal procession in the town at around about 5:00pm, another group of AL and BCL activists intercepted their procession owing to previous conflict relating to attack on AL district president's house one month ago and also due to arrest of a BCL leader in connection with this attack a few days ago.
Altercation was going on and at one stage, clashes broke out at Shapla Chattar, Court Station area, Koralia Road and Comilla Road areas leaving at least 15 people injured.
