Jalil demands release of Khulna Jubo League leader
Awami League General Secretary Abdul Jalil yesterday demanded release of Kamruzzaman Jamal, president of Khulna district Jubo League, and withdrawal of what he said was false case against him.
Condemning the arrest and torture of Jamal, the AL leader said the Jubo League leader was implicated in a conspiratorial and false case.
In a statement, Jalil said the BNP-Jamaat alliance government arrested Jamal and tortured him out of political vengeance. Seriously injured Jamal is now fighting for life in jail, but the government is not providing any treatment to him, he added.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. Kamruzzaman Jamal along with two other Jubo league activists, Babul Majumder and Enamul Huq Babu, was arrested by Rapid Action Battalion on November 15 from Fultala area in Khulna.
Babul Majumder and Enamul Huq Babu were killed in 'crossfire' the next day.
