Jalil gets bail in land grabbing case
After hearing a petition filed by Jalil, a HC division bench comprising Justice MA Rashid and Justice ATM Fazle Kabir also issued a rule upon the government to show cause within four weeks as to why the petitioner should not be granted regular bail.
Abdul Jalil appeared before the court and sought bail in the case.
Rafiqul Islam Sarker, an assistant director of Rajuk, filed a land misappropriation case against Jalil and others with Matijheel police on November 17.
In the case, he alleged that Jalil, chairman of Mercantile Bank and some of its unknown officers in assistance of one Mustari Begum of Gulshan, have tried to possess a piece of land on plot no 3 of block no CWN(C) at Gulshan Avenue in the city through false documents.
Earlier, on November 15, Jalil obtained anticipatory bail in an abduction and land grabbing case filed by Mustari Begum, who is now an accused of this forgery case filed by Rajuk.
Advocate Abdul Baset Majumder, advocate Mahbubey Alam, advocate Sahara Khatun, advocate Yusuf Hossain Humayun, Advocate Jahangir Hossain Selim and advocate Azherullah Bhuiyan moved the petition before the court.
