Japan to provide Tk 48.79 crore

According to an announcement here yesterday, the government of Japan has approved the utilisation of Japanese Counterpart Fund (JCF) for the phase-1 of the project.

Previously Bangladesh was not in a position to produce precise and unified topographic map such as 1:5,000 and 1:25,000 scales for a long time.

For this reason, various organisations in Bangladesh have prepared necessary topographic maps and data independently. Therefore, they could not implement development projects accurately and smoothly.

Between 2002 and 2004, JICA supported improvement of Digital Mapping System in Dhaka area and now everybody can get the accurate map in Dhaka area easily.

For expansion of this mapping system all over the country, Bangladesh government requested the Japan government to approve the utilisation of JCF.
