A bomb exploded at the office of BNP leader Hannan Shah at Gazipur last night leaving two people including a Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) activist injured.

The injured, identified as Al Amin, 20, a JCD activist and Badsha Miah, 24, a rickshaw puller, were rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).

Witnesses and BNP men said the bomb exploded while it was being carried.

The district administration yesterday declared section 144 in the locality after two 'rival' groups of BNP, led by Hannan Shah and Golam Hossain, announced programmes at the same spot at a girls' school.

The two injured were sent immediately on a vehicle of a BNP leader to hide the incident.

Meanwhile, both the rival groups blamed each other for the explosion, supporters of Hannan said people of Golam Hossain blasted the bomb while the latter's supporters said the bomb exploded when Hannan's men were carrying the explosives.
