JICA to set up weather radar system in Moulvibazar

Team members of the study mission and JICA officials were present on the occasion.

The main objectives of the Japanese grant aid project are to establish the weather observation radar system in Moulvibazar and improve the precision of flood forecasting in the Meghna basin.

A five-member basic design study team arrived in Bangladesh on June 21. The mission is comprised of officials from JICA headquarters in Tokyo and Japan Meteorological Agency.

The tem members visited the proposed project site in Moulvibazar and low-lying areas of Sylhet and Sunamganj to understand the severity of flash floods in those areas.

During their one-month visit to Bangladesh, the team will conduct extensive survey of the project area for the basic design report of the project.
