Police have started interrogating a cadre of Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) who was arrested on Thursday in connection with the bomb attack on the Sylhet Divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal judge.

The cadre, Obayed Prodhania, was arrested from his village Bishnupur in Chandpur on Thursday evening and was taken to Sylhet on Friday.

The police produced him before the court on Saturday and prayed for a seven-day remand, but the magistrate granted a four-day remand.

On the first day of remand, Obayed disclosed some vital information, sources said.

Police arrested Obayed on the basis of confessional statement by Akhtar Hossain, another JMB man, who was caught red-handed after the bomb attack on October 18, police said, adding that they will soon submit charge sheet against four people in two cases regarding the bomb attack.

The two other accused are Moulana Saifuddin, Imam of the Bhangatikor Mosque, and Delwar Hossain. Delwar is still at large.

Judge Biplob Goswami came under the bomb attack in the evening of October 18 in front of his residence at Kumarpara.

Meanwhile, five other JMB men were taken on a three-day remand in connection with the August 17 serial bomb attacks in Sylhet.

They are Akhtar Hossain, Abu Bakar Siddique, Juber Ahmed and Madrasa teachers Mohsin Khan and Abdul Hai.

A police official said charge sheets in two cases regarding August 17 serial bomb attacks would be submitted this week and three more charge sheets are likely to be submitted next week.
