Journo assaulted in Patuakhali over tender scandal

The assaulted journalist identified as Enayetur Rahman, Patuakhali Correspondent of Channel I, Focus Bangla and the daily Khaborpatra, filed a general diary with Patuakhali Sadar Police Station noting that he went to the local R&H office at about 11:30am and asked the officials about the scandal of Tk one core tender of Kalapara-Kuakata road development project.

When he was talking with Abdus Salam, executive engineer of Patuakhali R&H, a team of hooligans led by Kamal Krishna, sub-divisional engineer, attacked journalist Enayet and even threatened to kill him if any news is published in this connection. The attackers also damaged the audio-visual equipments of Enayet.

Local press club condemned the attack and demanded punishment to the attackers.

However, Executive Engineer Abdus Salam denied assaulting the journalists saying there was some altercation between the journalist and others.

It was learnt from different sources that Patuakhali R&H department awarded a work worth Tk one crore to their favourite men at a higher costing in exchange of bribe and commission.
