Journo's appeal for help
Senior journalist Abul Bashar has been hospitalised at Birdem with serious liver complications coupled with high blood sugar.
He is under treatment of eminent liver specialist Prof Anisur Rahman at Ward-122, Bed-1 (12th floor), Birdem Hospital.
Bashar has served the national news agency BSS, and a number of other national dailies, the last at The Independent, for long 24 years.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. Doctors feel Bashar should be sent abroad for higher treatment and Liver Transplantation immediately. This will involve an expenditure of about Tk 30 (thirty) lakh, which his family cannot bear.
His family has requested the journalist community, kind-hearted people and philanthropic organisations to come up with financial help for the treatment of the ailing journalist.
