Jatiya Party (Ershad) will not participate in the upcoming general election without exclusion of 1.22 crore fake voters, reforms in the election commission and creating a congenial atmosphere.

It was announced at a rally at Panthapath in the city yesterday as part of the party's simultaneous movement of laying siege to the Election Commission.

Expressing anxiety over the current political impasse, speakers at the rally said the country will face a serious crisis unless the caretaker government takes steps to reform the election commission.

Presided over by Dhaka city president Syed Abu Hossain Babla, the rally was addressed by party leaders Nasim Osman, Tajul Islam Chowdhury, Anwar Hossain and Prof Iqbal Hossain Raju.
