Justice seeks help for treatment

In his career as a lawyer in the High Court from 1966 to 1994, Justice Rahman always stood by the oppressed to establish their legal rights. From 1994 to 1997, he served as a justice in the Supreme Court.

Justice Rahman, a lifelong bachelor, has long been suffering from various diseases, including diabetes.

Misfortune befell him in 2000 when he suffered a brain stroke. A few days later, he underwent a brain operation. While he was recovering from his illness, he suffered a massive cardiac arrest.

As his health has deteriorated since, Justice Rahman could not go back to normal life to earn a living.

He is now almost paralysed and has spent his small savings on treatment. He now even cannot afford to buy medicines.

As he has no family members, his domestic help Rashed looks after him at a rented house at Rampura. Sometimes both of them have to starve as Justice Rahman has no source of income. Justice Rahman also could not pay the rent for several months.

Rashed, who also do not receive his payment regularly, said he could not leave behind the ailing person because of deep emotional attachment to him.

Justice Rahman has now developed cataracts and is also suffering from kidney ailments. Doctors have advised him to undergo operation immediately.

He now appeals to the president, prime minister and generous people to extend a helping hand.
