Jute godown gutted in Khulna fire

The fire broke out at the godown of Sharif Jute Ltd. Located on the bank of the river Bhairab when a lightning struck its rooftop at around 7:00am during heavy rain, police and local people said.

Some 30,000 maunds of jute were gutted in the blaze.

Four fire fighting units from Daulatpur and Dighalia headquarters rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after six hours of frantic efforts.

According to godown owner Sobhan Sharif, the loss was estimated at Tk 3 crore.
