Jute workers withdraw barricade programme

The decision was taken yesterday evening following assurance of the Jute Minister Shajahan Siraj on behalf of the prime minister to allocate a fund necessary for 50 per cent payment of arrear salaries by June 7 at the latest.

Leaders of the Action Committee issued a press statement saying that barricade programme will again be thrown if the government fails to honour the commitment.

Earlier, the jute minister held talks with Action Committee leaders at 3:00pm at the circuit house in a bid to resolve the crisis.
