Khulna Jamaat to boycott BNP whip's functions
BCIC Chairman Maj Gen (rtd) Imamuzzaman was assaulted allegedly by BNP workers in the presence of Industries Minister Matiur Rahman Nizami, at a function of Khulna Hardboard Mills in Khalishpur on September 14 for beginning the function before the arrival of Whip Ashraf.
The whip was late by about half an hour while he was scheduled to attend the function at 9:30am as special guest, said BCIC authorities and local Jamaat leaders.
Assaulting the BCIC chairman in the presence of Nizami, who is also the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh, at the instigation of the whip will not go unchallenged, local Jamaat leaders said.
Jamaat will give a befitting reply to the incident when time comes, they said hinting at the next parliamentary elections in Khulna 3 constituency from where Whip Ashraf was elected lawmaker in 2001.
