Land Rights Day observed

The National Council to Observe Land Rights Day formed human chains in 304 upazilas of 54 districts across the country simultaneously to mark the day, says a press release.

The human chain was formed on the High Court premises in the city on the occasion.

The Council Member Secretary Abdul Kader, Nagorik Uddyog Coordinator Zakir Hossain, Bangladesh Krishak Federation leader Badrul Alam, Dalit Human Rights President BJ Murti and others joined the human chain.

Reading out a declaration paper, Abdul Kader placed 16-point demand to promote the rights of landless people.

Meanwhile, Nagorik Sanghati held a meeting at its office at Dhanmondi in the city on the occasion.

Demanding establishment of the rights of poor people on the haor resources of the country, the speakers emphasised formulation and enforcement of specific policy to help economic development of the country.

Presided over by the Sanghati President Dr ASM Atikur Rahman, the meeting was also addressed by Sanghati General Secretary Sharifuzzaman Sharif, BAPA Joint Secretay Mihir Biswas and others.
