Lawyers stage demonstration today
Sammilita Ainjibi Samannaya Parishad, a platform of lawyers, will stage countrywide demonstration today with a slogan 'Save the Court Save the Country' protesting ruling BNP-Jamaat alliance's recent moves for politicisation of the Supreme Court.
In a statement, they said the latest examples of politicisation are the appointment of Justice Md Zoinul Abedin in the appellate division superseding three senior justices and appointment of Foysal Mahmud Foyzi as justice only on political ground ignoring charges of certificate forgery against him.
It also said the ruling alliance has filed false cases against eleven prominent lawyers, including three former presidents of Supreme Court Bar Association to materialise their evil design.
