Life to monitor upcoming election
Life, a non-government organisation, has decided to monitor the upcoming parliament elections in 10 districts, says a press release.
The decision was taken at an emergency meeting at its Lalmatia office in the city yesterday, with Life Chairman Kamrul Islam Sony in the chair.
The meeting also put forward some suggestions with a view to ensuring free and fair elections.

The suggestions include making the Election Commission more powerful and independent, introducing voter ID cards, allowing the administration to work impartially, putting in place necessary arrangements to free the election from the grip of muscle power and setting up special tribunals for speedy disposal of election related cases.
Seikh Faruk, Munir Hossain, Aamirul Islam, Dr Atiqur Rahman, Dr Nasima Khatun and branch coordinators from 10 districts were present at the meeting.
