Lightning kills 4

BSS from Jamalpur adds: Two people were killed and two others injured in lightning in Melandah upazila yesterday.

Hospital sources said, out of two victims, one was identified as Abdul Hakim, 30. They were hit by thunderbolt while working in a paddy field at around 9:00am.

The injured labourers are Ismail, 11, and Ramizuddin, 20. They were admitted to Jamalpur General Hospital.

UNB from Sylhet reports: A man was killed and four others were injured in lightning at Amria village in Bishwambharpur upazila of Sunamganj yesterday.

Local sources said Abdul Wahab, 35, died on the spot and four others were injured when the lightning struck them while they were working on a cropland at about 8:00am.

The injured -- Hashem, 40, Badal, 35, Tara Mia, 38, and Kala Mia, 14 -- were admitted to a local hospital.

In Rajbari, a thunderbolt killed a housewife and wounded another at Ahlidipur village in Sadar upazila.

The dead was identified as Kulsum Begum, 40, wife of Joy while the injured as Farida Begum.

They fell victims to the lightning while working on their cropland near their home at 2:00pm.
