Maldives FM lauds EPZs

Foreign Minister of the Maldives Dr Ahmed Shaheed, also leader of the visiting high-powered delegation, expressed satisfaction over EPZs during his discussion with the Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) Brig General Md Zakir Hossain yesterday.

Bangladesh High Commi-ssioner to the Maldives M Mirajul Quayes accompanied the delegation.

Brig Zakir briefed the delegation about entire gamut of EPZs, including incentives offered by BEPZA. He also highlighted on ever increasing growth ratio of export, investment and employment in the EPZs of Bangladesh.

Later the foreign minister went round a 100 percent Korean garments manufacturing industry M/S Youngone Hi-tech (BD) Ltd. and Korean cap factory Dada Savar Ltd in Dhaka EPZ.

The delegation expressed deep satisfaction to see the peaceful uninterrupted production oriented atmosphere of the zone.

Dr Shaheed lauds BEPZA for investment friendly environment and ever increasing success of EPZs. "I am impressed to see the success of EPZs and it will be a model for other developing nations", he added.

He said BEPZA is playing a pivotal role for socio-economic development of the country.
