Measles claims four, attacks 60 in Gaibandha
Four children died of measles and 60 others were infected with the disease at Char Charitabari, a remote shoal areas under Sundarganj upazila of Gaibandha yesterday.
The dead are Atarul, 8, son of Syed Ali, Israfil, 3, son of Lal Mia, Hasan Ali, 5, son of Mintu Mia and Jemi Begum, 1, daughter of Badsha Mia. All are the inhabitants of village Char Charitabari.
Locals said measles has broken out like an epidemic at the remote village along Brahmaputra basin since Saturday and spread alarmingly in the adjacent areas due to lack of proper preventive measures and communication problem.

Weather fluctuation in recent time is the main reason of outbreak of the disease, the physicians viewed.
