Meeting of CPD Board of Trustees held

The Board reviewed the research and dialogue activities and publications of the CPD of the last six months and expressed satisfaction over its performance. It was particularity happy to note that the CPD was able to sustain its pre- and post-budget activities notwithstanding its engagement in pre-election activities.

The meeting also reviewed CPD's pre-election activities and its contribution in preparation of Vision Paper.

The Board approved CPD's half yearly expenditure statement of 2006.

It also approved the allocation of Tk 20 lakh from CPD's core budget to a special fund created for holding regional dialogues and preparation of Vision Paper.

The Board expressed satisfaction that the Prothom Alo and The Daily Star have agreed to provide the matching fund for these activities.

It also noted with satisfaction that the Prothom Alo and The Daily Star are bringing out special supplements and Channel i is telecasting the regional dialogues all of which are self-financed.

Chaired by CPD Chairman Prof Rehman Sobhan, the meeting was attended by CPD Trustees M Syeduzzaman, chairman of Bank Asia, Laila Rahman Kabir, chairperson of Social Marketing Company Ltd, Syed Manzur Elahi, chairman of APEX Tannery, Dr Anisuzzaman, former professor of Bangla, University of Dhaka, Khushi Kabir, coordinator of Nijera Kori, Nurul Haq, former member of the Planning Commission, and Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya, executive director of CPD.

Anisatul Fatema Yousuf, additional director and head, Dialogue and Communication Division, CPD, attended the meeting on invitation.
