Memo to Hasina today for cancellation of deal with Khelafat
Aggrieved citizens will submit a memorandum to Awami League (AL) President Sheikh Hasina urging her to cancel the five-point memorandum of understanding signed between the AL and fundamentalist party Khelafat Majlish terming it contrary to the spirit of the liberation war.
They made the decision at a roundtable organised by Bangladesh Heritage Foundation at BILIA auditorium in the city yesterday with Justice KM Sobhan in the chair.
Noted journalist Shahriar Kabir conducted the function where writer Syed Shamsul Haq, Prof Mahfuza Khanam, economist Kazi Kholiquzzaman, ambassador Manzurul Alam, Prof Nimchandra Bhoumik, Shyamoly Nasreen Chowdhury, former lawmaker Tasmima Hossain, Ferdousi Priobhashini, freedom fighter Ziauddin Tareq Ali, women leader Khushi Kabir and barrister Sara Hossain also attended.
Aggrieved citizens' representatives have been asked to assemble at BILIA auditorium at 10:00am today to submit the memorandum to Hasina at her Sudhasadan residence.
