'Mere change of govt won't emancipate people'
They said that a mere change of government every five years will not emancipate people, rather the economic and socio-cultural bases of exploitation have to be uprooted.
They demanded the reinstatement of the core principles of 1972's constitution as it upholds the spirit of the liberation war and ensures democratic, secular and progressive environment across the country.
Addressing the meeting, Workers' Party leader Nurul Hasan said as the government is bewitched with the imperialist interests of India and Western countries, it is unmoved at the grievances of the commoners.
Mujahidul Islam Selim, general secretary of Communist Party of Bangladesh said that with the patronisation of Jamaat-e-Islam, some vested groups with Islamic garb "proclaimed war against the state, the constitution and the rule of the land".
He also urged people to politically boycott Jamaat.
Coordinator of LDF Ruhin Hossain Prince presided over the meeting.
