Missing baby girl found dead in city after 12 days

Frantic efforts of her father, a poor vegetable vendor, came to an end when Sabequnnesa Tuli's body was found in front of a children park, about 150 yards off their house at Zakir Hussain Road at Mohammadpur, yesterday morning.

There were several marks of injury on her chest.

Police suspect that the baby girl was killed some time on Friday night.

Tuli's father Abu Taher Sarkar filed a general diary with Mohammadpur Police Station as she had gone missing from in front of their house on July 24,

The parents continued announcements through loudspeakers over the past few days, but in vain.

Tuli's family alleged that she was stolen and later was murdered.

The duty officer of Mohammadpur Police Station said an unnatural death (UD) case was filed in this connection last afternoon.

Asked why a murder case was not filed despite signs of murder, he said "Since we are not sure yet whether it is a murder or not, we've filed an UD case".

None was arrested in this connection till filing of this report at 8:30 last night.
