Missing trader found dead in Buriganga

The dead was identified as Faruq Miah who was slaughtered over business dispute.

Sources said Faruq went to attend a public meeting with his friend Jahangir on Friday and from then on he went missing.

On the same day, his family members filed a case with Fatulla Police Station, following which police conducted an operation on Sunday at Kashipur and arrested Raju, a friend of Faruq.

In his confessional statement, Raju said Faruq demanded Tk 3 lakh from Jahangir over disposing of garment wastage and they were locked into dispute over the matter.

On Friday Raju along with other friends took Faruq to the Buriganga river in the name of recreational river cruise and killed him by stabbing and slaughtering, Raju added.

Faruq's wife Sathi Begum filed a case with Fatulla Police Station against six people, including Raju and Jahangir.
