Mob gouges out eyes of 4 pirates in Bagerhat
An angry mob gouged out the eyes of four pirates of Sundarbans at Rampal upazila in Bagerhat district yesterday.
The pirates were identified as Korban Ali, 24, Delwar Hossain,35, Shah Alam, 40, and Kabir Hossain, 35.
They were admitted to Khulna Medical College and Hospital in critical condition.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. According to police, the incident took place in the early morning when the pirates were taking preparation to commit robbery in fishing trawlers in Passur river.
Later, they were handed over to police who recovered one pipe gun and four daggers from their possession.
Police said four other pirates escaped when the mob chased them.
A case was filed with Rampal Police Station in this connection at noon.
