Mobile courts realise Tk 10.16 lakh in fine

Thirty mobile courts led by magistrates fined about Tk 10.16 lakh, filed as many as 334 cases and sentenced six people to imprisonment for different terms for producing and selling sub-standard and unsafe foods in restaurants and shops as well as irregularities in transport services in the city yesterday.

A mobile court of the Shyampur police station fined an owner of Onirban, herbal medicine company, Tk 2 lakh for manufacturing fake medicine.

Another court of the Ramna Police Station jailed two drivers for five days each and one for ten days for driving faulty vehicles without licece.

The mobile court of Tejgoan Police Station recovered one kilogram ganja (marijuana) from one Nur Mohammad at Bhangagate shanty. The court sent him to the jail filing a case against him under narcotic act.

The Pallabi Police Station mobile court fined Rajbhog Mistanna Bhandar and Bakery Tk 50,000 for producing and selling sub-standard and unsafe foods.

The same court also fined Dhaka Pure Drinking Water Company Tk 40,000 for selling impure water.

Besides, the courts yesterday also continued their drives against producing and selling adulterated Iftar items in different areas and fined many in this regard.

In the last six days, the 35 mobile courts, including five stand-by ones, have collected over TK 62 lakh in fine money and sentenced 19 people for different terms.
