A group of people led by Thakurgaon pourasava chairman dismantled the gate of Mother Teresa Charitable hospital in Thakurgaon yesterday afternoon without any prior notice, sources said.

The incident sparked tension among the patients, doctors and local people. The hospital provides treatment for the poor people in greater Dinajpur area.

Hospital sources said the gate had been constructed inside the hospital boundary, but the pourasava chairman, also a BNP leader, warned the hospital authorities not to construct it.

When contacted, the chairman said the hospital authorities constructed the gate in the poursava area.

A case has been lodged with Thakurgaon police station. The SP visited the area and assured that he would investigate the matter.
