Mugger lynched in city
Angry mob yesterday beat one mugger to death and severely injured two others on charge of snatching money from a vendor in the city's Jatrabari area.
The deceased was identified as Ruman, 28, and the injured were Manik, 30, and Shimul, 27.
Police sources said when the three muggers snatched Tk 3000 from vegetable vendor Abdul Momen in front of Jatrabari Shahi Masque at about 6:30am, the devotees, who have just finished their Fazr prayers in the mosque chased the muggers, captured and beat them mercilessly.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. Locals then handed them over to Jatrabari police who sent them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Doctors there declared Roman dead.
The two others are now receiving treatment.
