Two separate incidents of mysterious death were reported here in the port city yesterday.

In the first incident police recovered a body of a middle-aged woman from a flat of a four-storied building at Gangabari area of Patharghata under Kotwali Police Station at around 1:30pm.

The victim, identified as Taki Chowdhury, 40, worked as a maid at the residence of one Narayan Kanti Das since 2003.

In another incident, body of a minor boy, identified as Anisur Rahman, 5, son of one Mohammad Alam, was recovered from a rooftop water tank at a rice mill of Bakalia area at around 8:30am yesterday.

Police suspected that death of the boy might be a sequel to a quarrel between his father and a neighbouring woman identified as Parvin Akter.

Parvin remained absconding while her twelve year old son Suman was held, police said.
