National Youth Day today

In a message issued on the occasion, President/Chief Adviser Iajuddin Ahmed said the youth have the high working spirit, which should be mingled with the main stream of the country's development process.

Describing them as the 'power of prosperity', he said the youths played a glorious role in different democratic movements, including the 1952 language movement and the liberation war.

Chowdhury will inaugurate the day's programmes at Osmani Memorial auditorium where 16 self-employed young men and women will received the National Youth Award 2006.

Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar will broadcast special programmes, while national dailies will publish supplements, highlighting the significance of the day.

Youth Development Department will publish souvenir with success stories of self-employed youths.

A daylong seminar, titled 'Skilled Youth Force in Economic Development: Bangladesh Perspective', will be held at the Youth Department.
