He said, "I don't believe that the JMB is behind the bomb blasts". Rather, it is a neighbouring country, which is trying to create an unstable situation in order to topple the four-party alliance government, he added.
The neighbouring country wants to install a subservient government in the country so that it can establish a 'transit route' through Bangladesh, he said at a roundtable on 'Bombing in the name of Islam -- conspiracy against the state and national security: Duties of national leaders', organised by the Hizbut Tahrir, Bangladesh at a city hotel.
It is very much clear to the neighbouring country that if the alliance government comes to power again, it (neighbouring country) will not be able to fulfil its interests, said Anwar Zahid.
Actually, the bomb attacks are nothing but a conspiracy to divide the four-party alliance, he added.
"A Muslim cannot say that he does not want Islamic rule," he said, adding that but some BNP lawmakers do not want to establish Islamic rule in the country.
The neighbouring country is trying to create a situation so that no-one can seek to establish Islamic rule, the former minister said.
He urged all the Islamic parties of the country to launch a united movement to combat the conspiracies against Islam and the country's sovereignty.
