The heist took place at Mascot Plaza in the early hours of Wednesday. The burglars made off with 7,821 tolas of gold ornaments and cash totalling about Tk 12.80 crore.
Two guards of a private security company in league with the burglars drugged two of their on-duty colleagues and made them unconscious before breaking into the 16-storey shopping complex.
Police said the shop owners filed four cases with the Uttara Police Station and four investigation officers were asked to probe the incident.
Apart from the police, Detective Branch (DB) of police, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Rab are also instructed to look into the matter separately, they said.
The teams are also conducting raids on various places in search of the criminals, the police added.
The guards who were drugged are now undergoing treatment in the Uttara police custody. They would be produced before the court today.
President of Bangladesh Jewellery Samity MA Wadud Khan said a delegation of the Samity submitted a memorandum to the Inspector General of Police yesterday demanding immediate recovery of the looted gold and arrest of the burglars.
