'No direction to streamline education sector'
They made the comments at a meeting of AL Central Education and Human Resources Development Sub-committee at the party office in Dhanmondi in the city.
The speakers said there are also no guidelines in the budget for bringing back an education-friendly environment and congenial atmosphere on the campus.

They said the budget has showed the highest 15.9 percent allocation for the education sector, but the actual allocation would stand at 12.49 percent if extra-educational sectors are excluded.
The budget also failed to give any realistic direction to eliminate illiteracy, they observed.
Presided over by former vice-chancellor Dhaka University and president of the sub-committee Prof Dr AK Azad Chowdhury, the meeting was addressed by its secretary Nurul Islam Nahid, former DU Teachers' Association president Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique and Dean of social science faculty Prof Dr Harun-or-Rashid.
