No polls under present CEC: Tofail

Awami League Presidium Member Tofail Ahmed yesterday termed the alliance government as anti-liberation forces and said his party would not go for any election under the present Chief Election Commissioner MA Aziz.

"We will join elections, only after our demands for reforms in the election commission and the caretaker system are met", he said while addressing as chief guest at the triennial council of Rajshahi district AL.

AL Secretary General Abdul Jalil MP inaugurated the district council on Paba upazila's Damkurahat High School premises for security reasons.

Council preparatory committee conveynor Nurul Islam Thandu chaired the meeting.

Among others, Joint Secretary Obaidul Kader, organising secretaries Abdul Mannan and Akhtaruzzaman, AL leaders Sardar Amjad, AHM Khairuzzaman Liton and Workers' Party politburo member Fazle Hossain Badshah addressed the meeting.

Abdul Jalil MP said, the government in alliance with the defeated forces of 1971 is trying to destroy the pro liberation values.

Abdul Mannan told that the country had now turned into a den for radical Islamists who were acting as a ploy of the government.
