Noakhali University of Science and Technology inaugurated

Speaking on the occasion, she said that eight more new science and technology universities would be set up in different parts of the country, as her government has planned to produce efficient manpower equipped with science and technological education.

The university, a longstanding demand of Noakhali people, is situated on 100 acres of land at Sonapur in the district and built at a cost of Tk 24 crore. Classes of the university will start from June this year.

Khaleda said her government is committed to utilising the merit and creativity of new generation for development of human resources. And it has taken a plan for setting up 12 science and technology universities gradually to that end.

The government laid the foundation stone of the Noakhali University in 2003 and turned into a complete university within two and a half years.

Prime Minister Khaleda said it would be a complete residential university.

Law Minister Moudud Ahmed, local MP Mohammad Shajahan and Noakhali University of Science and Technology Project Director Prof Dr Abul Khair also spoke.
