Non-govt teachers to stage hunger strike tomorrow
National Front of Teachers and Employees (NFTE) will observe a daylong hunger strike tomorrow on the premises of Central Shaheed Minar, demanding fixed budgetary allocations for the teachers and employees.
NFTE, a forum of non-government high school and college teachers, in a press statement yesterday called on the government to pass the budget making adequate allocation for the teachers as per the election pledges of the BNP-Jamaat coalition government.
Their demands include raising their salaries by 10 per cent, new Monthly Pay Orders (MPOs) for some 7,000 teachers, promotion and festival bonuses.
