One beaten to death for stealing bulbs
A man died after security guards beat him up for allegedly stealing bulbs at Panthapath in the city in the early hours of yesterday.
The dead was identified as Mohammad Raihan, 28.
Police said Raihan stole a couple of bulbs at Panthakunja at 2:00am yesterday. But the security guards caught him red-handed, beat him up and tied him with a tree nearby.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. The guards released him in the morning, but he could not leave the place because of his injuries. Later, two guards took him to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared him dead at 2:30pm.
