One to die, four get life
A Dhaka court yesterday sentenced a man to death and four others to life in jail for killing an office assistant of police headquarters in February 1999.
The convict with death is Abdur Rouf Dewan while Hakim Dewan, Shamsul Haq Dewan, Ansar Ali and Zakirul Islam Jewel were given life in jail.
Judge Shahed Noor Uddin of the Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 gave the verdict in presence of the convicts for killing Naim Uddin, office assistant of the police headquarters in Dhaka.

According to the prosecution, a gang of miscreants led by Abdur Rouf kidnapped Naim and killed him near Sultana Decorator at Bahadurpur in Joydevpur Upazila on February 2, 1999.
