Awami League (AL) General Secretary and Coordinator of the 14-party opposition alliance Abdul Jalil yesterday said the opposition will join parliament only when consensus on the caretaker government and the Election Commission reforms is reached.

"We can discuss the reforms in the caretaker government and the Election Commission outside the parliament," Jalil said, adding: "We will not make any proposal in parliament. After reaching consensus, we can go to parliament to give the two issues a constitutional shape."

Talking to journalists, the AL general secretary termed the statement of LGRD Minister and BNP Secretary General Mannan Bhuyain `misleading'.

He said Mannan Bhuyian talked about 23-point of the 14-party alliance. "We have nothing to discuss with him on these issues which are part of our commitments to run the country".

The BNP secretary general on Wednesday proposed to sit with the 14-party opposition combine on its 23-point demand excepting reforms in caretaker government.
