Opposition out to create anarchy

Foiling all their efforts, the 4-party alliance is now more united and will again come to power with large number of votes, they expressed the conviction at Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) Conference 2006 at the Institution of Engineers Bangladesh in the city.

"There were conspiracies against the formation of the 4-party alliance. Offers of big amount of money were there to allure the 4-party allies, but none of those were successful because of our unity based on Bangladeshi nationalism and Islamic values," said Health Minister Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain while speaking as chief guest at the inaugural session of the conference.

Since the victory of the present alliance the AL tried to make the government dysfunctional by not joining parliament and propagating against the government in and outside the country terming it the patron of terrorists, militants and communal forces, he said.

Through Operation Clean Heart and Rab (Rapid Acton Battalion) the government has established the best law and order situation since the independence, said Dr Mosharraf, also a member of the BNP Standing Committee.

"Now the AL and its allies, being frustrated over the success of the alliance government, are talking of reforms in caretaker government and demanding cancellation of the election commission (EC) just to create anarchy," he noted.

Social Welfare Minister Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid said the EC is a fully independent and constitutional body, and the government has no authority to cancel it, but the 14-party opposition combine has been demanding it irrationally.

"We shall win the next polls with huge votes, because we represent people and work for them. We do not just speak of intellectual ideas sitting in the room," he said pointing finger to 14-party combine.

BJP Chairman Pro MA Matin, Secretary General Noor Mohammad Khan, presidium members ABM Golam Mostafa and Kazi Anwar Hossain, Kazi Alauddin MP and MM Amin MP also spoke at the inaugural session.
