People to resist AL if it continues anarchy

They asked the AL leadership to withdraw hartals as people no more support this destructive programme that causes immense suffering to the people as well as incurs huge loss in the economy.

Held in front of BNP office at Naya Paltan with Dhaka City Corporation Mayor and city BNP President Sadeque Hossain Khoka in the chair, leaders said people have become completely fed up with the opposition sponsored hartal and other destructive activities.

BNP organised the rally to protest opposition's hartal and siege programme, which led to violence and anarchy.

The leaders alleged that AL enforced the Dhaka siege programme ignoring a High Court verdict. "It has no example in the history what AL have done," they added.

Khoka in his speech said AL in fact wants to destroy the democracy in the name of agitation.

'We have shown high degree of tolerance in the last four and a half years as we respect the laws. But if the AL continues anarchy and destructive activities, we will be compelled to resist them with the support of the people,' he said.

BNP Joint Secretary General and Minister for Housing and Public Works Minister Mirza Abbas in his speech said BNP is ready to resist any sort violent activities of Awami League and asked the opposition to refrain from destructive activities in the name of movement.

Gayeshawr Chandra Roy, Mofiqul Hasan Tripti, Barkat Ullah Bulu, Salauddin Ahmed Mp, Abdus Salam, Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Nasiruddin Ahmed Pintu MP, Habibunnabi Sohel, Azizul Bari Helal, Shirin Sultana and Shafiul Bari Babu addressed the rally, among others.
