At a rally in front of the central library, speakers demanded for immediate cancellation of Phulbari open-pit coalmine project and expulsion of AEC.

The leaders said the northern part of the country would turn into a desert if the project starts operating.

Phulbari Students' Association of RU also staged a demonstration while students of political science department formed a human chain in front of the central library.

They demanded for judicial investigation into the killings, punishment for the people responsible and compensation for the injured and families of the deceased.
