Poly materials worth Tk 70 lakh seized
Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department Monday seized polypropylene, raw material to produce polythene, worth around Tk 70 lakh during an attempt to sell those in the open market in Demra.
The consignment was seized around 11:30pm after a tip-off that an unscrupulous group were trying to sell the polypropylene, which was imported with export-oriented use only, in the market.
Assisted by members of Rapid Action Battalion officials, the department caught the two trucks, which were carrying the polypropylene, at Mukti Sarani on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway.
