Posh food shops, clinic fined in Ctg

Chittagong Port Authority Magistrate Mohammad Munir Chowdhury led the anti-adulteration drives with the help of Bangladesh Standard Testing Institute (BSTI) and Drug department.

During the drive the court fined Tk 50 thousand to a private clinic -Al Amin Hospital at city's AK Khan Gate area under Pahartali Police Station for selling and keeping date expired medicines.

The court seized huge quantity of date expired medicines, including pain killer, anti-biotic, anti-histamine, ointment, calcium tablet, vitamin, medicine of different diseases like gynaecology, malaria and heart disease from a pharmacy inside the clinic.

In another drive at city's Zakir Hossain Road, the court fined Tk 50 thousand to two pharmacies Khwaza Pharmacy and Asha Medical Hall for selling date expired medicines and medicines without label.

Meanwhile, the court fined two famous confectioneries Food Plaza at Foy's Lake and Madhuban at Wasa intersection and realised Tk 40 thousand and Tk 10 thousand respectively for selling food items in unhygienic condition.

The court also fined Tk 40 thousand to a hardware shop MB Sanitary for marketing PVC pipes without BSTI licence.
